Cutting Edge Webs Purchases The Sagebrush News
by Judy Barnes
Rob and Sherry Scribner, the proud new owners
of The Sagebrush News, first started Cutting Edge Enterprises in 1993,
later moving the business to this area in 1999. After working for Boeing
for twenty years, Rob followed a dream of owning his own business and
he, along with his family, brought that dream to Central Oregon.
Betty and Gene Moe started The Sagebrush News,
a paper everyone loves to read, ten years ago. They have been
instrumental in helping the Scribner’s during this transition period.
Wanting to build a
business that would benefit people, the Scribner’s have developed a
powerful, high-tech resource that enables them to help others excel in
businesses of their own, through Cutting Edge Webs.
Daughter Tracy joined the business, receiving
her Certificate in Web Fundamentals from OSU, and has worked as Project
Manager for four years. Beginning as staff artist and updater when the
company was small, Tracy has worked in nearly every facet of the
business with Cutting Edge. Now she is excited about applying her
extensive experience and vast array of skills to the future of The
Sagebrush News, where she will also serve as project manager.
Others on the staff include Staci Query, who
lives with her husband in Bend. She is a graphic artist, web designer
and photographer with a background in printed advertising art and copy
editing. Mike Speas also lives in Bend, with his wife and two daughters. He has been in graphic design for over
four years and is highly skilled in designing and creating ads. Dustin
Ehrlich, a senior at Mt. View High
School in Bend, handles web page updates and some graphic artwork for Cutting Edge. He
is also the web designer for Sagebrush’s web site. He plans on attending
college after graduation and someday establishing his own company. Diana
Brown moved to Central Oregon in 2000
with her 2 boys. As bookkeeper for Cutting Edge and The Sagebrush News,
she plays a vital role in everyday business dealings. Judy Barnes moved
to Central Oregon from Wallowa County where she had been employed on
staff with the paper, the Wallowa County Chieftain, for several years.
She has been with The Sagebrush News four years, working as sales
manager, writer, copy editor, and photographer.
This well-rounded team with it’s fine blend of talents and motivation,
and with a goal of ‘grassroots home-town’ news and events, will prove to
be a winning combination for a successful paper. The Scribner’s are
looking forward to continuing to become more involved within the
community and serving Central Oregon and outlying areas with their
regional paper. Keeping with the flavor of this unique country, The
Sagebrush News will continue to serve as Central Oregon’s resource for
community stories and events, always bringing the best to their readers. |
