Third Generation Satterlee Jewelers
Back In Redmond
By Judy Barnes
The jewelry business is
a family tradition for Sean Satterlee, who represents the third
generation in the business started in 1941 by his grandfather and
great-uncle in Redmond, Oregon under the name of Satterlee Bros. The
original store was opened by Floyd and Lloyd Satterlee just blocks from
where the new one now stands.
In the beginning the
brothers did a repair business on watches and jewelry, but the business
expanded to the retail of jewelry in 1949. Later, Floyd, Sean’s
grandfather, moved to Prineville and started a second store in that
area. A third store was opened by Floyd’s son Doyle and his wife in the
town of Madras during a booming time in 1961.
It has been a
sixty-three year procession when in 2004 Doyle’s son, Sean and his wife
Keri, moved their Madras store back to Redmond. Sean had taken over the
Madras store in 1989, expanding the business and changing the name to
Satterlee Jewelers.
Sean has won two awards
in the regional Jewelry Design Awards for designs he submitted in 1995
and 1997. Both he and Keri offer the same friendly, dedicated service
the family has been known for over the years. Besides featuring a
selection of diamond and birthstone jewelry, they have gold and sterling
silver, as well as Accutron and Seiko watches to choose from and an
array of colored diamond jewelry in styles suited for both women and
men.
After a thirty year
span, Redmond welcomes the Satterlee family business back to town. The
new store is decorated in a timely western fashion with a touch of class
that is uniquely befitting the owners. Sean and Keri are looking forward
to meeting and serving Central Oregon. |
