Rustic to Elegant -
Something for Everyone
By Deborah Elvrom
Diversity is the key
to success! Larry and Nola, owners of House of Gifts, Furniture and
More, will have a diverse inventory of gifts items including glassware,
lines, birdhouses and feeders, soaps, lotions, candles and Nola’s
hand-crafted leather baskets.
Jewelry, metal art
and woodcarvings by Carl of Seal Rock, OR can also be found among the
wonderful selection of items for sale.
Neal Enterprises,
Inc, parent company of House of Gifts and Sawin’ Logs, provides Larry,
Nola, Mike and Dana plenty of work in the furniture building business.
With lodge pole pine
from LaPine, they craft really incredible log pieces, such as beds,
cabinets, and tables. Traditional furniture, like chest of drawers, is
built using a variety of woods, including oak, cherry, alder and walnut.
Prior to operating
their furniture business, Nola was a Daycare Provider for 13 years!
Larry worked at Copeland Lumber, now Parr Lumber. They have had the
business up and running for the past five years and are doing very well!
Both are native Oregonians who love what they are doing. Seeing the
satisfied look on a customer upon receiving a furniture piece brings
Larry his “jollies.”
Customers can
purchase furniture selections in several western states, including
Wyoming, Nevada, Utah and Oregon. Custom orders are always welcome.
September through February is the high peak for this business. However,
summer brings orders for picnic tables, wooden swings and benches.
House of Gifts,
Furniture and More, will open its doors February 6, 2004 at 1765 SW Hwy.
97 next to Miller Ford in Madras, OR. A Grand Opening is planned for
February 16, 2004 with drawings and prizes, including a glass chess set,
bird feeder, and set of Geneva watches. Refreshments will be served.
